The disks that come with this watch, both talk and show lighted pictures, whereas the older version only talks.The watch is awesome. Son really enjoys it. The only complaint would be that the disk it came with was stuck in the watch and took a lot of force to get it out. Once we got it out, it was easier to put in and take out. Recommend this toyMy son loves this toy. He thinks it's cool that it projects on the wall. I wishthe coins that go in it were more accessible. This toy comes with 2 and we couldn't find more unless they cost more than the toy itself.Another issue is the coins have to be put in a specific way and if slightly off they get stuck. My son thought his broke because of it and got upset but I was able to get it out and show him how its supposed to go jn.I surprised my kid with this watch since she loves to pretend to be a Yokai and wants me to "find the elusive Yokai with my Yokai watch" pretty much every single morning when she wakes up... so the other day I put this on and found her with a real Yokai watch... needless to say she was absolutely thrilled and hasn't stopped playing with the thing. I do need to find more of the medals for it since she wants certain characters (of course). The only downside to the thing is that it is very LOUD and there is no volume control.
