So far, I really like this watch. I was searching for a watch that was not so cheesily as a Timex, that had some style but was not pretentious, and that would dress up or down. Now, your own definition of what dresses up will obviously come into play here, but this is a stylish watch. I think it's a bit more stylish than the website photo. In reality, it looks less plastic. (Is, in fact, stainless steel.) Size does matter, and it's a large (wide) watch. I'm big, and it's still wide, which is, of course, in style currently.Case dimensions are not consistent among watch descriptions, so I'll tell you this one is right at 1-3/4 inches across the metal cast, side to side, not counting the stem. It looks a bit small in the photo, because the strap is about 15/16 inch wide. While I'm on the strap, it's smooth suede leather, the color shown. (They offer a variety of other bands, but this is the classiest.) I am big, and it's long enough, which really means it's not like so many on which the buckle half is so short that the buckle lies more or less on the side of your wrist. It's on the bottom of my wrist. Not squarely, but in an okay and comfortable place. Now, if your wrists are sausage fat, no common band is going to work for you, but the maker was generous enough for almost everyone. I expect that like all suede, it will be subject to oils and other stains. But then, it's not really a plumber's or mechanic's working watch. There's been some discussion of how easy it is to read. I find it doesn't present a problem. The hands and dial are not luminous, but the face is black and the main hands and marks matte metallic. The black face appears matte, so even in poor light, there is sufficient difference from the hands to make it readable. I looked this morning before dawn in the car with my hand below the window in very dim light and could easily find an angle at which the hands stood out enough from the face. I like the red second hand. Aside from style, it keeps it from being mistaken for the minute hand at a glance in dim light. The day of the month digits are simple and clear and are visible through the window from any reasonable angle. The second hand is not sweep. It "ticks" once per second. There are no minute marks, just the five minute marks, but the face is so large that it's clear which minute is current. It is a simple movement. No stop watch. Pull out the stem to set. The date can be rapidly advanced by passing 12:00, rolling back to before 10:00 and up to 12:00 again, which advances one day. No need to go around and around. The watch arrives with a tiny red plastic shim holding the stem out, so the battery isn't consumed in the warehouse. The back is marked for 3 atmospheres, which is the lowest water resistance rating, other than none at all. By industry standard, that means you can wash your hands and get it splashed, get caught in the rain, and other inconsequential water exposures, but should not shower, swim, dive, or wear it for other activities like fishing where it will be immersed. (3 atmospheres equates to 30 meters or 100 feet, but that is merely a part of the industry standard testing procedure and does not imply it can be safely submerged.) I doubt this leather would be too happy about getting soaked much.MVMT was crowdfunded on the mission of creating fashionable minimalist designs that could be worn in a variety of environments. They are essentially a fashion company, and the watch is an expression of that philosophy. But they did not just stuff a Chinese no-name movement into their fashion case. The movement is by Miyota and is one used in a multitude of watches. Miyota is a Citizen Watch Company brand, and their movements are used in about one quarter of all watches worldwide. Their batteries are mercury-free as per EU directive. They are supposed to be as long-lasting as mercury batteries, but I personally seem to see more complaints about all watch batteries since the switch from mercury. This is my spontaneous review, no freebees, etc. I feel, though, like I'm doing an ad for this watch. I want to hold up my wrist, look into the camera, and say, "This is my watch. Join the MoVeMenT." Hey. It's really a nice watch. It's worth the hundred bucks for style alone, and as I said, it's a decent movement and quality band.Won’t to dress to impress while not breaking the bank? Go MVMT.Clean looking design, a great value.I've been looking for a solid watch to replace my Obaku (Denmark) watch which I loved (probably a little too much for a watch). After searching around for a fashionable yet not overly expensive watch I stumbled upon a crowd funding watch named MVMT. I really liked the concept and the look of the watch, but I was still dubious about a 'crowd funded' watch, so I head off.Fast forward and after a successful crowd funding campaign and customers wearing them in the wild, I thought I'd take another look and found it too hard to resist. So I jumped in an ordered the 'Black Face with Black Leather Strap' and being a prime customer it appeared promptly in a couple of days.-- Case --The watch itself comes in a pretty cool case that has a largish zipper around the case (kind-of like a wetsuit zipper) which gives it a more urban and youthful feel.-- Watch --I must admit one of the things that concerned me the most before purchasing this watch, was the face's size, was it going to be too big! Now I don't have the biggest wrist in the world and now after wearing it, I have to say that the watch face isn't too big nor too heavy and looks amazing and really does grab peoples attention. Though one thing here to take note of is, that the face being large does tend to get smudges over it but those are easily removed. The time markers and hands are easy to see in the light, but without any light source you won't be really be able to see much at all. I haven't found this to be an issue yet as I am hardly checking the time in the pitch dark of the wilderness - but if you do, you may wish to look for something with a little more luminescence. The band is a relaxed leather not stiff at all, and formed pretty easily to my wrist which is more rectangular than round. The time piece itself keeps good time (so far - I have only had it for a little over a week) and it's actually quite easy to tell the time with, no issue with having no numbers written on the face. The date feature is a pretty standard 'just the day of the month' showing, but if you aren't sure what month it currently is, you might have more things to worry about.Overall, for the price you get a pretty awesome watch that works well, looks great as a casual or formal watch and is sure to have at least one of your friends asking where you got it from.As seen in the picture! PerfectGreat watch. The leather strap is soft and easy to swap with other bands. I like the large easy to read face.I am very happy with the quality of this watch. It has proven to live up to all that it has said it would…. I also support the brand’s mission and values. I only wish I could find other bands for it easily. Primarily a rubber athletic one.JoseThe watch is extremely sleek and very attractive on the wrist. It is lightweight which is another great bonus.I only discovered MVMT watches because I read an article about the company and its crowd funding success. Given the astonishingly low price, I thought it was worthwhile buying one, to see whether reality matched the image. I have been inordinately pleased with the watch. It is stylish, feels wonderful quality, and is a joy to wear. I find that I keep looking at it on my wrist, just because I enjoy the watch so much. I have been teasing a number of friends that their multi thousand pound watches are much less cool than my MVMT.Good looking watch.Bit the loop on the strap was very weak and has broken off under minimal strain....The watch was running slow and then stopped. Assumed it was just the battery running low, but after changing the battery, still runs slow.Nice minimalist watch. Appears high quality. A little bigger than expected. Recommended.Good watch nice and stylish. Doesnt feel or look cheap. Would recommend this for gifts.Beautiful watch for money.
